HamCation® is the 2nd largest gathering of radio amateurs in the world annually.
HamCation will kick off on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 7-9, hosted at the Central Florida Fairgrounds and Expo Park in Orlando, an 87-acre lakefront fairground.
HamCation is sponsored by the Orlando Amateur Radio Club, an ARRL-affiliated club, and is supported by volunteers from radio clubs throughout the region. The published gate figure for 2024 was 25,321 an all time record (all 3 days).
Icom America, Kenwood, and many other D-STAR supporters will be exhibiting at HamCation, drop by and say Hello!
John Davis (WB4QDX) will be presenting "D-STAR Made Simple" at 10:30AM on Friday, Feb 7
There's a lot of opportunities for experimentation with D-STAR. We want to encourage people to expand and create new things in Amateur Radio.
BUT, we please ask that you do not do any experimentation or linking to the busy reflectors, especially REF001 and REF030. There have been numerous instances of people intentionally and unintentionally setting up hotspots that cause these reflectors to be linked to other reflectors. This practice is NOT DESIRED for the busy reflectors. This practice has also caused several loops that have made the reflectors to be unavailable to all.
